Gaza City Confrontations Between Hamas and Family Members Cause 27 Lives Lost.

Armed Clash in Urban Gaza

A minimum of 27 individuals have been killed in violent exchanges between Hamas fighters and fighters of the Dughmush tribe in the Gaza urban area, marking among the deadliest internal clashes since the conclusion of large-scale Israeli military actions in the region.

Masked Hamas fighters engaged in shooting with tribal combatants near the city's Jordanian hospital, according to observers.

Ministry Report

A high-ranking officer in the interior ministry under Hamas stated that security units blockaded them and engaged in heavy fighting to detain them. The department reported that eight its fighters were fatally wounded in "a violent offensive by a paramilitary force".

Healthcare officials confirmed that nineteen Dughmush family fighters and eight Hamas security personnel had been fatally injured since fighting began on recently.

On-the-Ground Accounts

Eyewitnesses reported that the clashes broke out in the Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood in the southern part of Gaza City after a Hamas force of more than 300 fighters proceeded to assault a apartment building where Dughmush gunmen were entrenched.

Local inhabitants described frightening moments as numerous households evacuated their residences under sustained firearm exchanges, with numerous individuals having been displaced multiple times during the war.

"In this instance civilians weren't running from Israeli assaults," one resident stated. "They were escaping from members of their community."

Long-Standing Conflict

The Dughmush clan, among Gaza's notable families, has consistently experienced a tense relationship with the governing authority, and its armed members have clashed with the group on numerous times in the past.

The Hamas-run interior ministry said its units were seeking to restore order, cautioning that "every paramilitary operation beyond the structure of the resistance" would be dealt with firmly.

Contradictory Accounts

Both sides leveled charges over which party was accountable for starting the conflict.

Hamas initially reported that Dughmush militants eliminated two of its militants and hurt five additional members, leading to the organization to commence a mission against them.

In contrast, a Dughmush family representative informed Palestinian outlets that Hamas forces had approached a structure that once served as the Jordanian healthcare facility, where the tribe had sought shelter after their homes in the al-Sabra neighbourhood were devastated in the previous Israeli assault.

The representative asserted that the authority attempted to remove the clan from the building to establish a new base for its units there.

Wider Background

Hamas has recalled approximately 7,000 personnel of its armed forces to reestablish dominance over areas of Gaza previously evacuated by Israeli forces, according to local sources.

Accounts reveal that Hamas combat groups have already deployed across various neighborhoods, with some wearing civilian clothes and others in the blue attire of the Gaza security forces. The Hamas press division disputed that it was stationing combatants in urban zones.
