Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
